9. Building of Police College Ikeja and Kaduna started in 1946.
10. Railway Police Command was created in 1947.
11. Kaduna Police College was opened in 1948.
12. Ikeja Police College was opened in December 1949.
13. Police Transport Section and Signal Branch were formed in 1950.
14. Recruiting of women into the Nigeria Police Force started in 1955.
15. The Recruitment of Cadet Inspector started in 1953 while ASP in 1969.
16. Police Works Department was established in 1958.
17. Police Armament was established early 1960s.
18. Police Mounted Branch was formed in 1961.
19. The first squadron of PMF was formed in Kaduna in 1962.
20. The first dog section was established in 1963.
21. The first Nigerian to be IGP was Mr. L.O. Edet in 1964.
22. Local authority Police force was merged with Nigeria Police force in 1968.
23. The use of the present Police cap badge started between 1962-1964.
24. Police College was opened in Enugu in 1972 and later moved to Orji River.
25. Police College Maiduguri was established in 1973.
26. Police Air wing was inaugurated in 1973.
27. The wife of the first Nigerian Inspector-General of Police, Mrs. Mary Edet, formed police Officers Wives Association (POWA) in 1964.
28. Police Traffic Training School was opened in 1973.
29. Police Veterinary Section and Medical Branch were established in 1975.
30. Police Staff College was opened in Jos in 1976.
31. Police Co-operative society was established in 1977.
