The Inspector-General of Police Ogbonna O. Onovo has confirmed the arrest of the kidnappers of Pa Simeon Nwankwo Soludo, father of Professor Chukwuma Soludo, former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and PDP Governorship candidate for 2010 Anambra State governorship election. The IGP made this disclosure in his monthly meeting with Senior Police Officers in Force Headquarters, Abuja and also said the Police is still working on the matter and would like to be discreet about it at the moment.

The IGP lamented the commercial nature of kidnapping in the country said that it is still striving because people still succumb to paying ransom, and advice them to stop such payment, as the Police is working hard to check the crime. He called on members of the public to partner with The Nigeria Police Force to ensure that Nigeria is safe and secure.

The IGP in his address reteriated that kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes must not be allowed to persist especially during this season as the last two month of this year will usher in the Christmas and sallah celebrations, and this period will witness increased traffic on the roads, and there would be an expected upsurge in crimes., he thereby ordered the Command Comminssioners of Police to emabrk on high visible patrol of their areas, and enjoined officers posted on hotspots or directing traffic to adhere to the ethhics of the profession, and show diligence, courtesy and kindness to members ofthe public.
