POLICE COUNCIL CONFIRMS ONOVO AS IGP

In line with Section 215 (1) (a) of the 1999 Constitution, President Umaru Musa

August, 2009, confirmed the appointment of IGP Ogbonna Okechukwu Onovo, OON, NPM,

Sequel to his confirmation, IGP Onovo has reassured Nigerians of his total
commitment towards making the country safe, secure and promoting equality and
justice. He re-stated that, “our focus is already set as I intend to drive our
energies towards sustaining many laudable initiatives of our past administration,
improving on them, while charting new courses for greater achievements of the
Nigeria Police Force, and the nation in general”.

Finally, the IGP solicited the support and partnership of all agencies of
government, sister security organizations and all well-meaning stakeholders, so that
the task of securing peace and orderly development in the country would be achieved
to the fullest.
